About me.
Hi, I'm Abi, the designer behind Get Yer Hook On.
I taught myself to crochet in 2018, just before my 41st birthday, after watching YouTube videos. What started as a new hobby quickly became an obsession, and when I discovered overlay mosaic crochet in 2020, I was completely hooked.
A few months later, I decided to have a go at designing my own patterns. I released my first design in June 2020 and haven't looked back since.
I'm based in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, where I live with my husband and our Cane Corso, Lorca. When I'm not working, you'll usually find me with a crochet hook in one hand or creating my next design on a pixel art app on my phone. Most of my patterns actually start life as tiny coloured squares before becoming a blanket!
Scotland is my biggest source of inspiration. From dramatic landscapes and ancient castles to Celtic knots, wildlife, folklore and the changing seasons, I love turning the places and things I love into crochet.
My aim is to create patterns that are fun to make, easy to follow, and something you'll be proud to display in your home. Whether you're new to overlay mosaic crochet or you've been crocheting for years, I hope my designs inspire you to pick up your hook and create something you'll treasure.
