Iona Celtic Knot

Iona Celtic Knot is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern.

This pattern is named after the Isle of Iona, a tiny island off the southwest coast of Mull, on the west coast of Scotland.
Surrounded by beautiful white sandy beaches and turquoise seas, Iona is rich in the history of Celtic Christianity.

If you ever get the chance to visit Scotland, I highly recommend a trip here. It is believed that the famous illuminated manuscript ‘The Book of Kells’ was produced here around 800AD.

This pattern is my homage to this amazing place.

The way the pattern works, you can crochet any size and shape you like. The PDFs give details on how to create one square, a double-sided cushion, a large blanket, a square blanket, and a shawl.

The PDF has 2 easy to read charts (with Xs for DCs) for each pattern included, and corresponding written instructions.

Three PDFs are available, one using US terms, one using UK terms, and a separate PDF that is Knit Companion compatible.

You can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like for this pattern, just remember a tighter tension and high contrast colours are better for mosaic crochet.

You can of course create any size you want as it’s a simple repeating pattern.
