Festive Mosaic Crochet Patterns for a Cosy Christmas

Updated: Nov 11, 2023

Welcome to a winter wonderland of stitches and festive creations!

As the holiday season approaches, it's the perfect time to cosy up with your crochet hooks and dive into the magic of Christmas and winter-themed mosaic patterns.

In this blog, I'm thrilled to showcase my own collection of winter designs and some of my favourite patterns crafted by talented designers. From whimsical snowflakes to charming holiday motifs, join me on a journey through the artistry of crochet, where we celebrate the joy of creating and sharing beautiful pieces for the most wonderful time of the year.

Sholach Mosaic Afghan

Sholach is, of course, the first on the list. I designed this back in the summer of 2021 for friends who own a Christmas Tree Farm. This is by far my most popular design of all time, and the creativity and colour palettes I see from talented crocheters worldwide just amazes me.

You can purchase Sholach here:

Winter Wonderland Mosaic CAL

Designed by Ana Morais Soares of One Skein of Love, this gorgeous blanket has 14 different patterns and is the perfect winter blanket for crocheters of all levels.

You can purchase Winter Wonderland here:

Snowscape Winter Mosaic Afghan

Snowscape is another of my designs, which gives you a choice of three different central patterns.

• Design 1 – with a central row of snowflakes • Design 2 – with a central row of deer • Design 3 – with a central row of pine trees

Why have one winter design when you can have three?

You can purchase Snowscape here:

HoHoHo is just Christmas in a blanket, designed by Rosina Plane, originally as a crochet-along, but you can now purchase the whole pattern. Check those little robins! Cuteness.

You can purchase HoHoHo here:

Home for Christmas

Another of my patterns now, and I loved designing this one... One day, I started designing a gingerbread house, but I got a little carried away – and ‘Home for Christmas’ was born.

You can purchase Home for Christmas here:

Let it snow

Sometimes the simplest designs leave the most lasting impression, and Janneke Zaat's exquisite blanket from the Dutch Hooker Crochet perfectly exemplifies this principle.

You can download Let it Snow for free here:

Christmas Around the World

A fabulous pattern by the lovely Juli Gittinger showing Christmas greetings from around the world! Something for everyone in this unique design.

You can purchase Christmas Around the World here:

In the Spirit of....

A beautiful, swirly, colourful Christmas Tree by the lovely Anke Wintermans from the Crazy Crochet Catlady. Such a pretty design, and the colour options are endless.

You can purchase In the Spirit of... here

Penguin Party Mosaic Afghan

Something a little less Christmassy, but still with a fun winter feel, Penguin Party is one of my favourites.

You can purchase Penguin Party here:

Frozen Snowflakes

A beautiful repeating snowflake pattern crafted by Jessica Weston of Echo Crochet. This intricate design beautifully captures the essence of snowflakes in a mosaic crochet technique.

You can purchase Frozen Snowflakes here:

Christmas Cheer

I love watching Christmas Films, and Elf is definitely on the list of ones to watch every year. I designed this wall hanging for the members of my Facebook group. It is free to download, and you can grab your copy here:

Mosaic Nordic Winter Beauty

Inspired by Nordic folk art, this wonderful blanket was designed by Carol A Scott from CarolAnneCreates. Such a stunning pattern!

You can purchase Mosaic Nordic Winter Beauty here:

Celtic Winter

A fellow Scot, Fiona Kirk from Funky Loops Crochet, designed this wonderful Christmas pattern featuring Celtic knotwork baubles and trees.

You can purchase Celtic Winter here:

Winters Heart Mosaic Blanket

Another one of mine, Winters Heart, is a lovely winter or Christmas project incorporating snowflakes, hearts, trees and twinkles.

You can purchase Winters Heart here:

Christmas Spirit

Designed by Sarah Athey, this blanket is based on the view of a merry Christmas she has every year at home with her family and pets.

You can purchase Christmas Spirit here:

Starlight Mosaic Hexagon

Designed by me, again after requests from my Facebook group members, this pattern has diagrams detailing how to create a small, medium, and large Christmas tree skirt. A mug rug, a pot or plant rug, bunting, or a Christmas tree to hang on your wall.

You can purchase Starlight here:

There are of course lots of other patterns out there that capture the essence of Christmas and the magic of winter; the ones mentioned here are just a few of my favorites. Explore Ravelry for additional patterns and prepare to embrace the cosy vibes. Happy crocheting everyone.
