Three New Free Scottish Patterns

Every now and then, I fancy a wee break from designing blankets and want something I can finish in a couple of evenings.

So I've designed three free overlay mosaic crochet wall hangings/cushion covers, all with a Scottish theme and a healthy dose of Scottish humour.

You don't have to be a football fan to appreciate them. They're really a celebration of Scotland, the places, phrases and songs that bring us together, and the brilliant reputation Scots have for making every occasion a good one.

No Scotland, No Party

This one probably doesn't need much of an introduction!

The slogan has become part of Scottish culture, and I couldn't resist adding a row of Glasgow's famous traffic cones too. If you've ever visited the Duke of Wellington statue, you'll know exactly why they're there.

It's a fun little design that's guaranteed to raise a wee smile.

Yes Sir, I Can Boogie

Go on... I bet you sang the title!

Over the last few years, it's become one of those songs that's impossible not to join in with. If you've ever watched the Tartan Army in full voice, you'll know exactly what I mean.

One of the things I love most about Scotland is that we don't need to win to have a good time. The Tartan Army is famous all over the world for travelling in huge numbers, making pals wherever they go, having a laugh, and creating an atmosphere that's second to none. This pattern is really a wee nod to that spirit.

Alba gu Bràth

Simple, bold and proudly Scottish.

Alba gu Bràth means Scotland Forever, and it's a phrase that's been around for centuries. I wanted to keep this design clean and let the words do all the talking.

Perfect for anyone who's proud to call Scotland home, or simply loves this wee country as much as I do.

Perfect for Your Stash

One of the best things about these wall hangings is that they're small enough to make from yarn you've probably already got.

Have a rummage through your stash, pick a couple of colours and get crocheting. There's no need to buy anything special.

In fact, they're the perfect excuse to use up those odd balls of DK you've been keeping "just in case". You might even stumble across a colour combination you'd never have thought of otherwise!

What's Included?

Each free pattern includes:

• Right- and left-handed

• Written instructions

• A guide to overlay mosaic crochet

• Full colour charts

As always, I'd absolutely love to see your finished wall hangings. Please share your photos in my Facebook group or tag me on Facebook or Instagram. Seeing your projects is genuinely one of the best parts of being a designer, and I love seeing all the different colour choices and personal touches you add.

A huge thank you also goes to my wonderful testers, Ann-Marie, Michelle, Fiona and Donna, for thoroughly testing these patterns.

A special mention has to go to Ann-Marie for giving me the push to get these designed in the first place. It's just a shame that by the time I finally got round to releasing them, Scotland had already been knocked out of the World Cup.

Hey ho... No Scotland, No Party! 😄

Happy crocheting!
